Background What is Kawayan? We are a performance art group that specializes in Filipino dance, music and more.How long have you been around? Kawayan started in 2003 as a group of musicians that specialized in the music of Filipino folk dance. In August of 2006, Kawayan branched out to start its own folk dancing group. Although our group as a whole is still young, many of our directors, staff and dancers have been dancing and studying dance for years - some dating back to 1994.What does the logo mean? Our logo is the Sari Manok which is very familiar figure in theWhat is your background? The leadership and artists of Kawayan bring numerous years of dance experience to the company. Collectively, all of our members bring their years of training and experience (Pilipino Culture Nights, cotillions, dance companies, classes) to Kawayan. Typically our suite of dances range from 15-20 minutes long. Based on the requirements of each event, the overall time may vary. Kawayan can tailor our dances to fit the needs of our clients.How much notice do you need for a performance? We prefer to have a month’s notice for any performance requests. This will give us ample time to sign contracts and have everything ready for your performance. Although we would like as much time as possible, we will make every effort to work with your own timetable and requirements. With every performance request, we will need to check the availability of our artists to finalize the logistics of each event.Can you do a particular dance that is not in your current repertoire? Absolutely! Given enough time to learn the dance, Kawayan will tailor our services to meet the needs of our clients. Please discuss the time required for special dance requests with your account manager at the time signing the contract.Can you teach us dances?
